Toni Morrison, winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature, is the author of The Bluest Eye. 
This is a story of an eleven-year old black girl set in the author's home town of Lorain, Ohio, in the early 1940s. 
Pecola's dream is to have her eyes to turn blue so that people will look at her, 
so that her world would become better when they see her as beautiful, and her world will be different.
