WHEN? Saturday – Sunday, August 2 & 3, 2003 WHERE? Paradise Camp Ground – Just 20 minutes from Santa Barbara on Highway 154. Turn right on Paradise Rd, just after the bridge. WHAT WILL WE DO? We will have a barbecue dinner, music and song, ghost stories under the stars, a campfire, of course, and who knows what else? On Sunday morning we will cook a group breakfast, hike, swim at Red Rock, bird watch, or just be lazy. WHAT DO WE BRING? Sleeping bags, tent if you wish, but not required, camp gear such as cooking equipment if you have it. Dinner will be pot luck, so bring your favorite outdoor fare to share. And don’t forget your favorite beverage. Sunday’s breakfast will be provided by the club, and so will “somemores” for dessert the night before. If you don’t know what “somemores” are, you are in for a treat. (Hint: bring an old wire coat hanger for a marshmallow roasting stick). It seems Graduates always have a little champagne around - informal mimosas were in evidence at breakfast. Around the campfire, we heard Brian Silsbury's offering, "Nicholas Ni", Rick Dolwig's selection from Richard Bach's "Illusions", and "Crystal River", and we saw even more stars than we do in the relatively dark skies of Santa Barbara. WHAT NEXT? Berkeley Meigs and the event committee agree -- this must now be an ANNUAL (at least!) event. |
