Speaker: BATHSHEBA CROCKER
“Reconstructing Iraq:  The Picture at Six Months”

A 2003 Council on Foreign Relations International Affairs Fellow with the CSIS International Security Program, she is working with the Post-conflict Reconstruction Project.

Recently part of a 5-person team of experts for CSIS; (at the request of Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld & Ambassador Bremer) she spent 11 days in Iraq and met people from all walks of life, saw significant progress but huge challenges ahead.

She previously worked as an attorney-adviser in the Legal Adviser’s Office at the U.S. Dept. of State, where she focused on foreign assistance and appropriations law issues. Prior to that, se served as the deputy U.S. special representative for the Southeast Europe Initiative in Rome, Italy.

Ms. Crocker has previously served as the executive assistant to the deputy assistant to the president for national security affairs and as an attorney-advisor at the State Department working on economic sanctions matters.

Ms. Crocker holds a B.A. from StanfordUniv.; M.A.L.D. from FletcherSchool at Tufts Univ. and a J.D. from HarvardLawSchool.
