Graduates held a docent-guided
tour and brown bag lunch at the 782-acre Arroyo Hondo Preserve
located in a pristine
canyon just north of Santa Barbara on the beaurtiful Gaviota coast.
The Preserve was purchased
in October 2001 by the Land Trust for Santa Barbara
and has been made available
to the public on a reservation basis.
Ron and Ellie Freese organized the event.
Our morning tour began at
the Ortega family’s 1842 adobe ranch house and included
hiking along the meandering
trails followed by lunch at a shaded picnic grove.
Arroyo Hondo is located
off #101 just south of the Gaviota Pass.
ADVICE: Bring your own brown
bag lunch, water, insect repellent, good walking shoes.
