VISIT THE
L.A. COUNTY MUSEUM
OF ART (LACMA)
5905 Wilshire Blvd.
On September 30, six Graduates and two guests visited the L.A. County Museum of Art and saw the French Masterworks from Moscow's Pushkin Museum.
Fritz and Hertha Will, Larry and Stephanie Larsson, Lucien Lacour and his daughter, and Judy Fisher, a guest of Mary Freericks. Mary organized the trip. Three colunteer drivers took care of transportation. Lucien gave directions to avoid the worst of the traffic, and the group made the 11:00 AM exhibit ticket time easily.
All enjoyed the works; a variety of different paintings. Mary was especially delighted with the three large Matisse works, including The Dancers and The Goldfish. Mary had arranged for reservations at the Pintomento Restaurant; a lovely lunch beautifully presented. The salmon was delicious, and only the cob salad was disappointing.
Also disappointing was the fact that the Modigliani exhibit came down only two days before the visit!
In the afternoon, four members of the group visited the museum's regular collection of impressionists and modern artists. Hertha Will was especially helpful with her comments on the artists and on specific works. She even found an assemblage of rusty metal pieces by her own teacher!
