Setting up a Home Network: A Workshop on Hardware, Software and Security

SEC members and the public are invited to a Special Event on Home Networking and Security, Saturday October 18 
Location: University Club of Santa Barbara, 1332 Santa Barbara Street, Downtown Santa Barbara. 

Our workshop leader is Gregg Hart, owner of Hart Computer Consulting, a local computer consulting firm that specializes in computer and network support for small businesses and individuals.  Gregg's background includes an Engineering degree from Michigan State University and work for companies from Hughes Aircraft to McCormick Schilling (Spice) company to local firms including General Research Corporation.  His expertise comes from over 20 years of experience in a combination of systems administration work, operations and general management roles as well as experience as a consultant implementing enterprise-wide management software. 

Gregg has been through extensive training, including courses from Microsoft ® (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer training), Cisco® (Cisco Certified Network Administrator training) and other major software and hardware manufacturers, keeping himself current on the latest available technologies and tools.

Space provided to hook up your computer or laptop in a real time network if you wish, or just come to observe and learn. If you bring a computer, you will need to also bring an ethernet card and cable, a wireless network card (802.11), or a network-ready laptop.
