A 90th BIRTHDAY! 

If you are one of us who are ardent fans of the wonderful Richard Goggin,  and want to help honor him on his  90th Birthday, please read on:

What?  A Birthday Bash for Richard

Richard's 90th Birthday Bash will be a Black and White Party, recognizing his sophistication and Savoir Faire, with a 1920's theme, and just a touch of theater.  Please wear black and/or white, and please bring your elegant hors d'oeuvre on a black, white, or silver dish or tray. (Silver can be the silver look-a-likes from Smart & Final or any party store.) 

Where? at Killybeg: Berkeley and Mike's home.

When? Thursday, October 21, 6:00 p.m.

What do I bring?  A really elegant hors d'oeuvre for 12, and your own wine, if you wish it.  (Many of us will be standing to eat, so finger foods are best)

What about a gift? Not necessary, though a card would be great. Instead of a gift, we are asking everyone who comes to send (ASAP) a written memory of a really good time you shared with Richard, or a special anecdote about him, or, if you are artistic, a drawing of a memory shared with Richard.. Please try to limit these to one paragraph or one page drawing if possible. We will put these into a Memory Book for Richard.  This will take some work, so we need these right away.

Cost?  $10 per person will help with champagne for a birthday toast, paper goods, cake, and a nice book for the memories. Besides the champagne toast, we will have sparkling water and soft drinks available. You are welcome to bring your own wine. 

We have over 30 reservations, but you need to send your art, photo, or written memory of a time shared with Richard for the Memory Book we will present to him. This may be in any format, but no larger than 8 ½ by 11, please.  It may be a paragraph or a page, something Richard will enjoy looking over and keeping:  A funny story, a reminiscence of the first time you met Richard, a photo of you and Richard, a drawing, a poem,  anything on that order. Please send these to Berkeley Meigs no later than October 15. If you are submitting a written piece, it is fine to e-mail it.
