CALLING ALL INTREPID ADVENTUROUS
GRADUATES
(AND SOME WHO LIKE A LITTLE
PAMPERING):
The Graduate Campout this year
will once again be at Berkeley and Mike's home in Ojai. There is
a large new swimming pool, patio and gardens, and a wild back ½
acre where you can pitch a tent or lay down your air mattress or futon
and sleeping bag and sleep under the stars. This is luxury camping
because, in addition to the campground and Andy Gump, there will be access
as needed to the house, bathrooms, kitchen, etc.
We will meet Saturday, August
9, any time after 4 p.m. Bring swim suits and towels if desired.
We will enjoy a happy hour with your own drinks and shared appetizers.
Later we will barbecue our dinner. The committee will supply corn
on the cob and baked beans. You will bring your own meat to cook
and one dish to share either a salad, side dish, appetizer, or dessert.
After dinner we will be able to swim, sit in the hot spa tub, sit around
a campfire and tell stories, sing, and eat s'mores (and drink more
wine if you wish).
The stars should be spectacular
and the weather warm during the day and cool at night. The ground
is hard, so we recommend air mattress or futon under your sleeping bag.
You may fall asleep listening the songs of the coyotes in the nearby hills.
(Property is safely fenced).
In the morning the breakfast
committee will pamper us all by cooking a delicious camp breakfast. A level,
three-mile hike is available in the morning for those energetic enough
to want it. After breakfast, there is the delightful village of Ojai
to explore, beautiful Lake Casitas, a winery that can be visited, or more
hiking opportunities (or more swimming in the pool).
We are looking for volunteers
for the camping committee, so, when you call or email Roger Hoyt
for reservations, please tell him if you are willing to be on the committee.
The camping committee will include subcommittees for dinner, breakfast,
and entertainment. The more you get involved in the planning, the more
fun you will have. After confirmation of your reservation, send your check,
made out to The Graduates, to Roger.
