In early 2009, Elden Dellanina has been running the Graduates hiking franchise. Bob Lilley will be back soon as a co-leader now that his back is improving...Bob did hike on April 11, as you'll see in the pictures.

Elden posted the hike by e-mail to the group which has been hiking off and on for a couple of years. This page acknowledges his organizational and hiking skills and includes pictures for some hikes.

3/14/09 - Let’s do a hike on the Cold Springs Trail. Our destination is a 200-foot waterfall.  It's not a hard hike.  Meet at 9:00a.m. in the   Montecito Upper Village parking lot across from Santa Barbara Bank & Trust.  See you there! Any questions, call Elden Dellanina.

Many of the trails offer such views!

4/4/09: I was going out of town, but plans changed - so I’m hiking tomorrow morning- Saturday 4/3/09.

4/11/09: We hiked Rattlesnake Trail today. Very nice hike. Photos below show us in the meadow at the hike’s destination. Photo by Mark Palmer.  The creek had a nice flow of water and the weather was perfect. Some of us had some good food at Via Vai following the hike.

Trail skirts the west edge of the Tea Fire. Scenery is much changed.

The view from the meadow                                                           Via Vai and lunch al fresco.

Mark Palmer brought his GPS unit, which recorded every step! (May be a few dropouts -- the low points -- there wasn't that much downhill work!

Mark's unit also maps the route. A little hard to see at this scale, but neat anyway!

4/19/09: We had a nice hike on the San Ysidro Trail yesterday - According to the “Day Hikes Around S.B.” book by Robert Stone, the distance was 3.7 miles, elevation gain was 1200 feet.  I think we were all surprised as to how little water there was at San Ysidro falls.  The stream looked good, but the Falls revealed that we are way behind on rainfall for this time of year. After the hike some of us had a very nice lunch at Via Vai restaurant.
