TRIP TO PASADENA--Thursday,
April 16th
Tour of the California School
of Culinary Art
Luncheon at the school's restaurant,
Bistro 561
Visit to the 'cooks' store
Visit to the Norton Simon
Museum of Art
We will travel by SB Airbus,
leaving at 8:45 a.m. from the Sears upper parking lot (Calle Real
and La Cumbre St.) and arriving at the Campus Cook Store (530 E. Colorado
St.) around 10:45. After browsing in the store or nearby shops along Designers'
Row we'll walk one block to the restaurant, Bistro 561, located at 561
E. Green St.
The restaurant opens for lunch
at 11:30. The menu changes frequently, but we have been assured of a 3
course gourmet luncheon, including an appetizer, entrée, dessert
and non-alcoholic beverage. Wine can be purchased separately by cash or
credit card.
Following lunch around 1 p.m.
we'll be taken on a tour splitting our group of 23 (bus capacity) in half,
each group going in a different direction. Unfortunately, this trip can't
include carpoolers due to the School's tour limitation of around 20 people.
The tour of the classrooms and kitchens should take 30 - 45 minutes.
We'll regroup at our bus and
journey a short distance to the wonderful Norton Simon Museum, arriving
there (hopefully) by 2:15 p.m. in time for an optional docent tour. Museum
admission will cost $4 for seniors, and $8 for everyone else, which you
will pay at the door. We'll plan to leave the Museum at 4:15, arriving
home around 6:15, toasting our adventures with a little wine, cheese &
crackers on the way home. Each person may tip the bus driver (optional)
on leaving the bus.
COST: The luncheon,
including tax and tip, is $35 and the bus trip is $33. To make a reservation,
please email Robin Madden or if you do not have
email, call her. If confirmed, send a check for $68
per person made out to The Graduates to Robin. Checks must be received by April 5th.
