Hiking - San Ysidro Falls -- Sunday,
April 25

Graduate Elden Dellanina announced a Springtime hike to San Ysidro Falls on Sunday, April 25. It was one of those cool and perfect hiking days, and we climbed as the marine layer disappeared in the canyon. Bob Lilley and Joe and Pat Boris plus the family dog, joined in.Helpful hints: Be
sure to bring drinking water, and wear a hat.
Friends: Bring 'em
all!
Cost: None, except
for optional brunch after the hike, at a place we'll choose during the
hike.

Met a lady walking with her dog and an interesting story. The dog shown in the photo was blinded when hit by an auto. They walk the trails nearly every day, and he is remarkably agile. He walks with a "stalking" gait, so he can "find" the terrain before putting weight on his front legs. He recognizes the word "step" which means to step high over an obstacle. He hugs the side, feeling the grass as the guide to stay on the trail or road. |

On the way back down, a glimpse of a rock shaped, well, a bit like the moai of Easter Island.
