| We've worked hard and arranged
two more tours at the Center for Nanomedicine. These people have
been so welcoming and gracious. We owe them a big thank you.
The new dates are November
30th and December 8th. The time is different and will be 1 to 3 p.m.
They will provide wine and cheese at the conclusion of the tour.
They will have reserved parking spots for us and if you can car pool, it
would help. I'll put out lists of who is attending, so you can see
if there is someone near to you.
There is one thing though,
and I ask you to make my job easier by indicating your first and second
choice of dates because again there is a limit of 20. I'll try to
accommodate you.

Graduates: We have been
given an incredible opportunity to tour the Center for Nanomedicine at
UCSB at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 17th. The tour will run
a bit over two hours.
This new center is a collaboration
of two world renowned institutions, the Sanford-Burnham Medical Research
Institute and UCSB bringing together the top-ranked biomedical research
capabilities of SBMRI with the superb biomedical engineering of UCSB.
The Center is dedicated to engineering cures for human disease.
Come and hear about some of
their work such as "smart devices that diagnose, treat and cure disease
before it can cause symptoms and spread". We will tour the AlloSphere
Building and as a bonus, they will serve lunch.
It is important to note that
we will be walking close to a mile during the tour. This tour is
limited to 20 people.
This will fill up quickly and
we anticipate scheduling a second tour. Although they will reserve
some parking spaces for us, it is best if we carpool. If you are
interested, email Florence Michel.
